Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Tribute to The Celestial

In a rhapsodic celebration of myth, motion, and meticulous craftsmanship, Vacheron Constantin’s latest masterpiece—Métiers d’Art Tribute to The Celestial—charts a poetic course through the zodiac. This limited series of twelve haute horlogerie watches transforms constellations into hand-crafted horological art, with each reference dedicated to one of the zodiac signs. The collection is a radiant synthesis of celestial mythology, artistic savoir-faire, and technical innovation.

Each 39mm timepiece is housed in an 18K white gold case set with 96 baguette-cut blue sapphires (totaling ~3.87 carats), expertly channel-set for a seamless, floating effect around the bezel, crown, lugs, and buckle. This creates an uninterrupted halo of sapphire light, echoing the deep blue dials beneath.

The dial is where true artistry unfolds: each one showcases a hand-guilloché zodiac sign and its constellation, with the principal stars represented by brilliant-cut diamonds. Vacheron Constantin’s in-house master guillocheur developed a pioneering technique for figurative guilloché drawing, requiring approximately 16 hours of meticulous engraving per dial. The four human signs—Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Aquarius—are further enriched with opaline detail, adding nuance and texture.

This artisanal work is supported by a sublime mechanical heart: the ultra-thin self-winding Calibre 2160 tourbillon movement, just 5.65mm thick. Containing 188 components, this in-house movement features a 22K peripheral rotor, offering an 80-hour power reserve while allowing an unobstructed view of the exquisitely finished movement. Visible through the sapphire caseback are hand-bevelled bridges, Côtes de Genève decoration, and a Maltese Cross-shaped tourbillon cage—a visual and technical signature of the brand.

Each piece in the collection is hallmarked with the Poinçon de Genève, a mark of exceptional quality in both craftsmanship and chronometric performance.

This series follows a lineage of celestial inspirations from Vacheron Constantin, dating back to Art Deco clocks and continuing through the Les Cabinotiers and Copernicus Celestial Spheres collections. The Métiers d’Art Tribute to The Celestial draws from this rich heritage, particularly the 2021 single-piece Minute Repeater Tourbillon Sky Chart Leo Constellation Jewellery, which pioneered the figurative guilloché constellation motif.

More than watches, these are mechanical interpretations of myth, honoring both the science and lore of the heavens. By blending ancient astronomical traditions with contemporary craftsmanship, Vacheron Constantin has created a horological ode to the stars—a tribute that feels both eternal and entirely of its time.
